Mat-Plus™
This course provides instructors with the foundation and skills necessary to develop highly effective and motivating group and personal training programs. Instructors will learn to design and teach essential and intermediate level Mat-based classes, integrating small equipment for variety and challenge to meet the needs of a range of clients.
Requirements: 40 hours class time of instruction and supervised teaching, 10 hours of observation (minimum), 15 hours practice teaching (minimum) and 30 hours of physical review (minimum) subject to participant's experience.
Practice teaching hours may be logged at Performance Pilates or a studio within the student's area. Observation hours may be logged at Performance Pilates, by watching any certified Stott instructor, or by viewing Stott videos/DVDS. Upon completion of the course, a practicum and written exam must be taken for the Intensive Mat-Plus certification within 6 months of completion of the course or the student must enroll in Advanced Mat or Intensive Reformer. A strong anatomy background is suggested for this course.
Topics include:
- Workout composition for personal and group training.
- Essential, intermediate and power workouts.
- Use of Flex-Band®, Fitness Circle® exercisers, and Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises.

Reformer

Instructors will learn to design and teach essential and intermediate level Reformer-based classes, integrating small equipment for variety and challenge to meet the needs of a range of clients.
Classes are designed to meet the 50 hours instruction and supervised teaching, 10 hours observation (minimum), 40 hours physical review, and 25 hours practice teaching (minimum) for the intensive course.
Practice teaching hours may be logged at Performance Pilates or a studio within the student's area. Observation hours may be logged at Performance Plates, by watching any certified Stott instructor, or by viewing Stott videos/DVDS.
Upon completion of the course, a practicum and written exam must be taken for the Intensive Reformer certification within 6 months of completion of the course or the student must enroll in CCB Level 1, Advanced Mat, or Advanced Reformer. A strong anatomy background is suggested for this course.
Topics include:
- Breakdown of all essential and intermediate level Reformer exercise.
- Exercise principles and how they relate specifically to the Reformer exercise.
- Variations and modifications of the Reformer exercise for specific body types, injuries and conditions.
- Exercise essence, including muscular initiation and sequencing.
- Effective communication with teaching skills.

Cadillac, Chair & Barrels
CCB prepares you to teach essential and intermediate level exercises on equipment designed to complement and complete training. This course includes the Cadillac/Trapeze Table, Stability Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Arc Barrel. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of your clients' goals.
Requires 50 hours of instruction and supervised teaching, 10 hours observation (minimum), 40 hours physical review (minimum), and 25 hours practice teaching.
Practice teaching hours may be logged at Performance Pilates or a studio within the student's area. Observation hours may be logged at Performance Pilates, by watching any certified Stott instructor, or by viewing Stott videos/DVDS. Upon completion of the course, a practicum and written exam must be taken for the Intensive CCB certification or the student must enroll in an Advanced Course. A strong anatomy background is suggested for this course.
CCB training will reflect the 3 separate modules:
Cadillac (25 hrs) $875.00; Chair (15hrs) $525.00 ; Barrels (10hrs) $350.00
The modules are priced separately. They can be taken together at the rate of $1650.00
Testing cannot be done without the completion of all 3 modules.
Topics include:
- Breakdown of 230 essential and intermediate level exercises. Variations and modifications for specific body types and sequencing, exercise programming and incorporating the mat and all pieces equipment in individual workouts.
- Effective communication and teaching techniques.

Injuries & Special Populations
Requires 24 hours of instruction, 16 hours review and practice teaching conducted over 4 to 6 days. ISP equips you with the skills and in-depth knowledge required to address a broad range of physical challenges among your clients. Successful completion of ISP and advanced courses is required for Full STOTT PILATES Certification. At the completion of this lecture-demonstration, you will be able to customize your clients' workouts to address particular weaknesses, conditions, postural problems, or injuries.
Topics Include:
- How to address a variety of injuries, weaknesses and conditions including: lower back pain, spinal conditions, and hip and knee replacements. Treating shoulder problems, neck and shoulder tension, fibromyalgia, arthritis, pregnancy. Application of appropriate STOTT PILATES® biomechanics principles. Workout design for personal training programs and specialty classes. Appropriate modification of Mat work, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair & Barrels.
- Effective communication, visual skills, verbal cueing, and imagery for client motivation.
